The WRONG dates - 01/02/03 12:06 AM

in the bonus features, it says Apollonia died in 1947, and sonny died in 1948: Sonny was killed before Apollonia. And it says Carlo died in 1954 and the five families were killed in 1955. Carlo died after the heads of the five families.

There are many wrong dates in the DVD extra disc as well as in the films themselves. For example, the flashback at the end of GFII shows the Don's birthday as December 7, but his tombstone in GF gives his birthdate as April 28. At the Senate hearings in GFII, the Senator asks Michael if he was responsible for the murders of the heads of the Five Families "in 1950 [sic]" when we know it occurred in 1955. The only thing that can be said in defense of thes errors is that we're dealing with a Trilogy that spanned 20 years between the first and third films, and involved thousands of pages of script--anomalies were bound to creep in. Besides: look at all the fun people like us have with finding these errors!

As i have stated several months ago, there is so many film flubs in the Godfather films that makes it impossible to get an accurate accounting. Heck, i have been told that the baseball game that Sonny was listening to before he got wacked was an actual game that took place in the early 50's.

However, is knowing the actually dates that important? confused Is the purpose of watching the Godfather saga is to find errors??? confused

The DVD provides us with a beautiful tree. Even though we recongize it with errors, I think we should just agree to use that as the official family tree...and move on smile

I noticed the Applononia and sonny thing.
I wonder how they dont know when certain characters died like tom 197? they made the film for god sake.

Don Vercetti, deathkiss has it right here. As Sonny approaches the toll booth you can hear a commentary on a baseball match in the background (either in his car on in the toll booth, hard to tell which). The commentary used was a tape from the National League play-off between the NY Giants and the Brooklyn Dodgers which took place on October 3rd 1951. The game was famous for Bobby Thompson's winning home run for the Giants the so-called "Shot Heard Around The World".

However, I dod agree that it is fun for people like us to findthese descepancies.[/QUOTE]

Actually, even some of the movie mismatchs don't seem to make sense. Considering killing a police captain and a massacure of Organized Crime heads would seem to be front page news, It doesn't look like it would be that hard to have some Senate interns looking through old newspapers to find the correct year for the various murders.

And considering it's a legal proceding, accurate imformation would seem to be important here. So Micheal wasn't committing perjury when he said that he did not kill McClusky and Sollozo in 1947 and the 5 families in 1950, since he killed them in 1946 and,IIRC, 1955 respectivly(though Tom bringing this up would probably not be the best idea).
