Tony is a short name for Antonio. Tony is the male americanized version of his name.

Toni is short for Antoinette. A Female americanized version of the name.

Don Cardi cool

Don Cardi cool

Five - ten years from now, they're gonna wish there was American Cosa Nostra. Five - ten years from now, they're gonna miss John Gotti.

Toni Cipriani`s name is Antonio, as his mother called him that sometimes. Also, Don Leone occasianaly called him "Anthony"

I think that in Cuba or elsewhere in Latin America, the short version of "Antonio" would be spelled "Toni." But, as DC said, in America, the "i" suffix is usually used with feminine names, like "Antoinette," and the "y" suffix for male names, like "Anthony" or "Antonio." And, let's face it, there's no way we'd ever want any ambiguity about Tony Montana's gender or sexual orientation. grin
