Can anyone tell me who exactly are the Diaz Brothers and why they are after Tony. I've been trying to figure this out, and i can't. I know it may not matter that much but I just wanted to see if anyone knew.

I don't think so, because earlier in the movie at Frank's car dealership, Tony comes back with news of deal with Sosa. (where Omar is killed by being hanged from the helicopter)And when Tony tells Frank of the news, Frank asks what will happen when he doesn't pay Sosa...then he asks Tony "What about the Diaz brothers" Tony of course replies "Fuck the Fuckin' Diaz brothers, i will bury those cockaroaches!"

I agree with Scarfacefan, I always thought they were just a rival gang in Miami. Other, and perhaps equally of more powerful drug lords.

Could it be that the Diaz brothers are actually the guys who shot at Tony before he went to whack Frank? Frank says something about them, how they were acting alone or something along those lines, but maybe they were actually under Frank's comand. confused

No, those guys were Frank's hitman. Frank mentions thier names ( Diaz Brothers ) to Tony in trying to lay the blame on them and take the heat off of himself. He suspects that Tony is going to blame him out of his own guilt and failure on the hit on Tony. Remember Tony sets him up with the Phone call made to Frank by Nick the Pig at exactly 3:00am, having Nick say on the phone to Frank that the hit on Tony failed.

We never actually see the Diaz brothers, they're just a name thrown into the dialogue. But I am saying maybe those guys were the Diaz bros and Frank had them under his thumb, but Tony and everyone else didnt know about that. Frank tells Tony that is was the Diaz brothers acting on thier own but it could have been the Diaz brothers acting on Frank's behalf.

If winners never lose, well, then a loser sure can sing the blues.
