I've finally got around to reading Fools Die, I'm about half way through. I was just wondering if anyone else had thought that Merlin was kind of based on Mario Puzo himself? With the whole writing thing, gambling and being in the army?

"But if he betrays me your prayers will not be swift enough to catch him on his way to hell." - Salvatore Guiliano

Yeah, I had that thought too. Ask Carol, if she ever comes here again.
