Can someone explain to me how this works? Do gangs reach out to mob bosses and say "Lets do business together?"

How does this work? How do they end up working together? Do they have someone on the street who is in charge of all of this?

You will never ever see a gang banger with a mob guy ever. They don't associate with one another like that so I'm curious to know who contacts who to make this work?

Why wouldn't they associate with eachother? They do all the time. These relationships are organic from growing up together living in the same area prison or pre existing.

I don’t know the details but I thought Vito Rizzutto showed how it could be done successfully…

Look its not like these guys are going to have beers together down at the local social club. So how do they conduct business if they never really see one another?

Someone mentioned up above that deals are cut in prison when they are in there together? So when that happens then the higher ups relay the messages to their visitors about what needs to be done?

Correct?

For example Mr. Gang leader is in the joint with a boss from the Gambino crime family. They make a deal in prison, and then the gang leader tells his guy who comes to visit him what is supposed to happen and then the boss from the Gambinos relays the message onto his guy to take care of the arrangements on the street with his crew.

Yes? Or am I totally off base with this scenario?

Not sure why you don't think these guys can or don't hang out with eachother.

That could be a possibility. Another is they begin working together when both are released from prison.
There's a number of ways these relationships develop and how they're carried out. It's the dame as any other group.

No mafia guy is gonna invite a fucking idiot gang banger to his social club that looks like he took a shit in his pants and every other word in his vocabulary is "nigga."

The bosses have a business agreement on who gets a cut of what and who supplies who. But outside of that, there is no relationship and thats as far as it goes.

Most of the time they won't bring an idiot around, but it happens. I think a lot of people misunderstand how the relations happen most of the time. I'll give an example of two scenarios. Johnny and Danny from Connecticut grew up together, they go their own ways in high school but stay in touch. Johnny joins the LCN as an an associate and Danny joins the Pagans, they have been in touch over the years and decide to have a join business venture which is profitable to both them and their own organizations. Johnny get made a few years later for whatever reason, and putz Danny on record with him. Now Danny may kick up a little or nothing to Johnny other than their deal, but in most cases both organizations don't infringe on each other's businesses and have peace. Another scenario Salvatore is a made man in Prison and becomes friends with a Smith a member of a street gang, we will say the blood. Salvatore gets out 10 years later, but stays in touch. Salvatore maybe puts the guy on record with him as the member is valuable. 5, 10 years later Salvatore becomes a capo, while his friend leaves the bloods since he is in his 40s and doing his own thing, but he has a son and a couple of nephews in a set which one nephew becomes its leader while in his mid to late 20s. Smith uses them for jobs, and Salvatore has no problems and they all have an understanding. Smith is on record with Salvatore, but the others are not, or maybe Salvatore puts the nephew who is the leader of that set on record with him.

The Italians have to be suspicious and often don't trust each other and yet they get in cahoots now with street gangs who also don't trust and often cooperate against each other?

The old timers are racist af. They hate blacks.

Chicago Outfit has always done business with latin gangs, not blacks.
