On Facebook it was said that Larry Mazza, rat who came up with
Greg (The Grim Cuckold ) Scarpa was given a beating in Florida by another former mobster turned snitch. The original source seems to be Cookie D'Urso, who claims he knocked Mazza out with one punch if the stories going around are correct. Has anyone read or heard anything on this?

Linda Scarpa, Greg Scarpa's daughter, if i am not mistaken, has a Facebook group where she promotes Mazza and seems to be his friend.

As for the supposed beating the source is a Capeci favorite for some reason. Cookie D'Urso, who Capeci seems to drool over when he writes of him. D'Urso claims he knocked Mazza down, then offered him a free punch at his chin, and D'Urso is described by Capeci as the toughest and best built man in history.

He has consistently every week after week, year after year has put out quality content.

From legit sources and when he does make a mistake I have seen him admit and retract it.

I messaged Capeci when he started charging for his column and I told him that I read his column every Tuesday in the Daily News back in the early 80's, on line and bought his books, but your greed pissed me off and I'll never buy another book of your again lol...He messaged me back and gave me some bunk about how he's got extra expenses etc

Dude's gotta make a living too, why all the hate? My only problem is it's a pain in the ass, it's not even expensive. Oh, and my other problem is not much going on in the mob world. His articles from the mid-1980s to the early 2000s are great, then after that we're left with a shell of a mob.

Capeci rarely has street stories not fed him by the FBI; stories he submits with no verification as he has zero street cred. He claimed Calandra socked a guy in a coffee shop but that is completely inaccurate. Calandra jumped out of his car and assaulted someone and proceeded to immediately phone Tommy Dades for assistance.

I'm glad someone caught that.

People shouldn't be posting "protected" articles (I suppose you mean it's behind a paywall or something, and they have technology that prevents people from copying/pasting their content?). There's a reason why they do that. Gangster BB doesn't condone theft of intellectual property, especially when it involves bypassing any safeguards the content owners put in place to prevent it. When in doubt, you could post a link to the article and people can determine themselves if it's worth them paying for access to it. Better yet, provide your own summary of the article and post your source(s)....

He is a journalist he has sources that feed him info.

The main part of the story sounds accurate as CALANDRA CRACKED SOMEONE,

If it happened in or out of a coffee shop why does that matter?
If he called Tommy Dades or a his Mother or his Priest why does that even matter?

He claimed to have no street sources and proudly proclaimed his reliance on agents. Later, realizing how such a boast questions his credibility, he want out of his way thereafter to claim "sources on both sides of the law". Cite when he claims his sources are street people? That kind of source requires socializing, carefully, where hangers on frequent, getting gossip and discerning what you hear. A Philadelphia reporter literally uncovered the Philadelphia Black Mafia via his own investigative journalism; hounding sources for some info; the resulting headlines embarrassed the Philadelphia FBI field office staking out South Philly.

Most investigative journalists will cite they have sources - LE and non-LE - but more importantly, it's so obvious he is getting leaked hearsay that the FEDs want to put out and create talk and dissension.

The coffee shop matters as the story is completely inaccurate in that Calandra was not defending himself. Instead, he was stalking someone, sucker-punched him (or caught them off guard as on one would expect a "protected rat" to throw a punch) and immediately dimed to the police to have Dades leverage any potential arrest fall-out. So, the whole story is technically wrong and in defense of the government - their rat.

Worse yet, giving up the Linda Schiro tapes to save a corrupt, murdering FBI agent. That was done to help the FBI. She lied to protect him at the outset, only.
