About time someone came out and criticized these rats. Them and their nasty handlers and federal prosecutors have had free reign for long enough, with most people supporting them and glorifying their actions. Maybe the tide will start turning against them. We can only hope lol.

Agreed ! The feds are ten times worse than the mob ! They do everything the mob did and more and still do ! They will kill no problem if they or someone they are protecting is about to get ratted on .
We are the suckers ! The feds control everything & everyone including Washington.

I highly doubt that he would've gotten the death penalty, they bluffed him. It was another mobster first of all. Second of all, even if it was an innocent person, this is NY we're talking about, not Texas. If he was truly facing the death penalty, it would've been reduced to life in prison without parole for his cooperation. But they let him free. They didn't even need his cooperation, it was all about humiliating the mob.

I wonder how he knows Massino is dead, nothing via Google confirms this. Someone posted he was in Florida, I wonder of Massino was in touch with some of his old friends on the QT
Paciello was very good with his hands and tough, didn't have the balls of Joey and his friends, but tough none-the-less

In 1996 when he took the column online as www.ganglandnews.com it was great, because the NY Mafia was still pretty active till 1999 at least and we had Gotti, Gigante, Persico, Amuso etc..

If I really worked hard to be positive, about the only good thing anyone could say for the man is that he didn't go the route of Franzese, Pennisi et al. He never even wrote a book. Maybe even for him that would have been a bridge too far. Or maybe he just didn't have the discipline to sit down and write one. I guess we'll never know.
I think it's fair to argue that he did more damage to the mob in the modern era than even John Gotti. I'm not in the camp of people who glorify these guys as some do, but to take a leadership position, benefit from it for years and then betray the people who made you rich when the chips are down is the lowest form of low, full stop. He extracted the very best and the very most out of the mob and then got the very best and very most out of the government.
Next to his contemporaries - guys like Persico, Amuso, Gotti, Chin, Fat ass Joe is a complete joke. I would like to think that members of the Bonanno family don't touch their ears anymore to refer to him as "the Ear" when his name comes up, but instead form a "o" with their thumb and index finger to refer to him as "the stinking, putrid Asshole".
Massino is just simply the lowest kind of parasite that could possibly ever exist in the mob. I am delighted to hear he is dead. He deserves nothing, not even in death.

Is the information he's gonna dig out of storage gonna be anything new? I'm not a gambler and have no interest in that portion of his podcast. Im looking forward to this rat of the month bit. I just don't know if it's a wise choice to be going after the fbi. If he stays clean and they can't get get him on anything, they'll be going after his buddies that are still kicking up to him. If it wasn't for Trumps money he'd be pleading out. They have unlimited resources and the ability to ruin you and everyone close to you's life.

WOW! Not for nothing Eastside. But that was a fabulous, well spoken, and extremely accurate assessment of what this fat fuck was, and was NOT about!...Bravo! He was a fucking worm!
I am very impressed. Not only by what you just wrote (which was outstanding,) but also by the "positions" and comments that a few of our fellow forum members have been posting up lately.

Probably also had a lot to do with the fact that the deal he got not only got him out of jail where he would have absolutely died, but he got to keep millions of dollars and 5 houses he owned. He turned over 7 million dollars in cash and 4-500 gold bars he had hidden in his house as part of the deal too. So I'm sure he had more $$$ stashed that he and the FEDS "accidentally" forgot about. Like "we're taking what's in this house, but none of our business what's in the other 4 if you make this deal. Wink, wink."
Didn't he get arrested for trying to steal asprin or something stupid from a drug store when he was in Witness Protection? The hustle never ends for these guys. Probably sittin' on a package that would choke an elephant and he's boosting asprin at a CVS in Elvis country.

I don't recall where they relocated him, but I could swear I remember reading that he got arrested for petty theft. Can't find anything about it. Maybe they wiped it, lol.
Also kind of weird that he was never part of Operation Donnie Brasco and the aftermath of all of that. I read an article where Joe asked Pistone in court mockingly who was going to play him in the movie and he said they couldn't find anyone fat enough to play him. Although that could have been Pistone embellishing a little on his part. But odd that Joe didn't get sucked into Donnie's orbit when Joe would have been the #1 target of the FBI to go after in the Bonannos and we see the 3 Captains murder in the movie, but it's not orchestrated by anyone meant to be Massino. And then Massino testified in court after he flipped that he had Sonny Black killed because he feared he was going to make a move to take over the Bonannos? Was he just trying to downplay the damage Donnie did to the Family? I can't imagine Sonny getting a pass for Brasco. But I don't think I buy him having the connections to take the Family over from Joe, who had the backing of Rusty and his connections. Which is why Sonny Red and the Captains got killed.

Actually, the Donnie Brasco operation didn't do very much damage to the Bonannos, except hurt their reputation severely and got them kicked off the Commission. Virtually no one got very much time in the grand scheme of things. If anything getting kicked off the Commission was a boost, it allowed them to dodge a bullet (the Commission Trial) and rebuild in the shadows. Massino was actually a pretty successful boss when you consider that he lasted over a decade in post-RICO times, into the 21st century, you know, times when most people are saying is no longer possible to last that long. The public for the most part thinks that the Mafia died with John Gotti yet here we are with bosses that came afterwards outlasting him. Virtually everyone's heard of Capone and Gotti, guarantee you the vast, vast, majority of people never heard of Massino, Bellomo or Mannino.
Something else, why is Massino considered the 1st and only American Mafia don to ever flip? Frank Salemme, boss of the Patriarca Family, flipped before he did.

Highest ranking mob boss to ever flip is whats being reported. Not the first.

But how was he the highest-ranking? Frank Salemme was official boss, Joe Massino was official boss. And I have seen him referred to as the first, as well as the highest-ranking.

Fat Tony Salerno said it best when speaking to another boss from a smaller family outside NY (think it was Cleveland) - “tell him he’s dealing with the big boys now”. (I paraphrase but it was words to that effect).
Or to give you an Animal farm type reference - some bosses are just more “equal” than others.
Joe Massino (or “Messina” seems to be how everyone refers to him) chaired commission meetings. He was a millionaire ten times over and was a top NY official boss for many years (alongside rusty late 70s onwards and then many years post rusty dying). No Mickey Mouse acting lackey like al d’arco, Massino was the real deal. That sort of boss is not meant to flip or give the government anything. He benefited too much to flip, as a mobster in his 60s he is meant to happily go and die in prison. But he did flip and the power of that fat f*ck flipping and giving up everything, all the people that made him rich and killed for him, even wearing a wire on his acting replacement and entrapping him in a cell is massive and takes away the whole power/allure and any meaning of the mob.

He went so far back that his first unsanctioned hit was mistakenly put down to the Bonnano war of the 60s! He and an associate killed some Bonnano associate at the time who was ironically close to rusty - who luckily never found out it was Massino.
I reckon he had way more secrets and way more money hidden away that he never needed to reveal (had no threat of it coming out elsewhere).
The fat rat is also responsible for many many bodies in Canada by putting away rizzuto who helped out at Massinos request in the 3 capo hit in the 80s. The gravity of him flipping is so massive.

Neapolitan Joey Massino thought he could make a deal with the Feds he turned himself in to the New York police WTF. But maybe he was smart guy though and he did live a good life till 80.

So many rat lovers on Reddit, anyone who says anything bad about fat fuck Massino gets downvoted. I can't chime in because I'm banned. You couldn't pay me Massino’s money to live that life, but I can still admit that he's a fat fucking scumbag. Or was. And one idiot keeps saying that he would've gotten the death penalty. Bullshit. Even if he did, he would've died of old age before he was ever executed.
