I've been reading this blog earlier today http://www.godfathermuseum.blogspot.co.uk/2012_05_02_archive.htmlIt seems to implicitly state that there is some 45 minutes of footage from the first film that's never been seen by the public, and some TWO HOURS of stuff from part II, including much footage actually shot showing Vito post Sicily building his empire in New York and introducing a teenage Sonny to the business and 90 mins of footage AFTER Micheal kills Fredo - is this true, was this footage actually shot? And was the beating of the Bonasera's thugs actually shot? What I wouldn't give to see this stuff.

Sonny - Well then, business will have to suffer, all right? And listen, do me a favor, Tom. No more advice on how to patch things up, just help me win, please

Heaven only knows what was left on the cutting room floor. Harlan Lebo, in his outstanding book, "The Godfather Legacy," shows two stills from a scene that was actually shot. One still shows Michael, dressed up in gangster-modern (gray fedora, black overcoat), bringing a lupara into Fabrizzio's pizza parlor. The second still shows Fab covered with blood. What I wouldn't give to see that scene.

Yes - Great book, reading it for the 4th or 5th time now actually, but does he actually allude to filmed sequences from the 1930's? This is the first I've heard of totally new chunks of the film actually existing, it thought there were a few trims of scenes here and there, the odd complete scene, most of which are out there, I had not idea that probably, you could make a part II.5 from all the excised stuff. I'd love for Coppola to release this stuff.

I never knew that about the Rosatos, they are mentioned so much in the film but seen only once, two decent actors hired to play the roles. Would stand to reason that there would be more stuff with them, including possibly their deaths
There must be a way to find out about everything that was shot
